The last steam operated seagoing tug in the Netherlands

Welcome to the website of the s.s. Furie, the last steam operated seagoing tug in the Netherlands. Launched in 1916 at a shipyard in the province of Groningen, she worked  until the late 70s for the paper industry in Sweden. She was then purchased for a role in the now legendary television series ‘Hollands Glorie’ based on the book by Jan de Hartog. She was purchased in 1978 by the foundation Hollands Glorie in Maassluis, since       when she sails once again under the Dutch flag.
